If you’re still thinking of upgrading your personal computer to Windows 10 you have until July 29 to do it for free.
You can get the upgrade for a Windows 7 and 8.1 computer via the Get Windows 10 app Microsoft created to help novices. This app is already installed on many PCs, from tablets and laptops to full blown desktops, through the automatic update functionality of your old version of Windows. Look for the Windows icon on the far right-hand side of your taskbar to see if you have the app.
If you don’t feel confident enough to do the upgrade yourself call Need A Nerd and arrange a time to drop your PC off.
While you wait you could do far worse than pick up a copy of Windows 10 For Dummies, by Andy Rathbone. It’s a great handy reference book that can be used like a dictionary or encyclopedia when you want to look up some new functionality in Windows 10. Its helpful, but humorous in place, tone makes it easy to read cover to cover in plain English rather than fancy computer jargon.
